PTA Skills I introduces students to the theory and application of common therapeutic interventions for clients with musculoskeletal injuries/conditions within the role of the physiotherapy assistant. Students develop an understanding of the rationale for each intervention as well as the ability to apply skills safely and effectively in a variety of clinical situations. Effective verbal and non-verbal communication strategies within the role of the therapy assistant and as part of an interdisciplinary team is emphasized. Practical knowledge will be practiced, integrated and evaluated during practical labs.
