OTA Skills I introduces students to occupational therapy, occupation, occupational performance issues and corresponding treatment approaches. Occupational Therapy theories and models of practice are introduced and applied through case study. Students explore and use a range of therapeutic activities to promote occupational performance. Principals of activity analysis, selection, planning and application will be applied to a variety of occupational performance issues and practice areas. The use of assistive devices and environmental adaptation to optimize occupational performance will also be addressed. Practical application of this knowledge will be practiced and evaluated during practical labs.
