Students explore concepts integral to fermentation, employment, and sustainability, and demonstrate laboratory skills for the biotechnology industry. An emphasis is placed on teamwork, problem-solving, and report-writing. Students purify an enzyme using protein chemistry, produce a product by microbial fermentation, and verify the purity and functionality of their products. Reports written by the students represent types used in business, industry, and research.
