This course builds and expands on the Dental Hygiene students' foundational knowledge to incorporate advanced skills in the Dental Hygiene process of care. The student will gain additional knowledge on various components of care focusing on client specific oral hygiene instruction, pain control applications with a focus on local anaesthetic, ultrasonic and advanced instrumentation, assessment of ergonomics and adjunctive periodontal therapies. This course will look at periodontal surgical procedures and referral protocols as well as recent innovations in the study and management of periodontal diseases.
