Relationships and Interpersonal Skills

In this course students will explore an array of theories and skills used to effectively and responsibly support patients to achieve their desired health outcomes. Students will learn how to initiate and navigate interactions with patients, identify motivators and develop strategies to aid health-promoting behaviour change and maintenance. Key concepts of this course include: integrating EDI in practice, trauma-informed care, effective communication, developing and maintaining a therapeutic relationship, patient-centred care, practitioner self care and strategies for managing professional boundaries.
