Continuing upon the concepts of "Building as a System" students will learn how mechanical heating and cooling systems can impact health, safety, comfort and costs of a building. Students will learn the basic principles of heat and cooling along with the characteristics of commonly used mechanical systems for HVAC. Calculating loads, efficiencies and costs builds a base for students to logically compare systems and determine the advantages (and disadvantages) of moving from traditional to renewable energy systems.
