Transit information
Please note: As of Saturday, June 29 Durham Region Transit (DRT) will be making route and fare changes that may impact students usage of U-Pass. For more information on these changes please view the DRT flyer or visit the DRT website.
As part of their student fees, all full-time Durham College students receive a Universal Transit Pass (U-Pass) that offers:
- Unlimited use of any Durham Region Transit or GO Transit bus operating in Durham Region; and
- Reduced GO Transit fare outside of Durham Region.

Parking Information
Durham College provides safe parking facilities for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Visitor parking
Visiting our vibrant campus? We have pay and display parking areas located in the following lots:
- Commencement lot
- Founders lots 2, 3 and 7
- Student Services building (SSB) lot
- Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre lot
If you are attending an event on campus, please access the lot indicated on your invitation.
Evening Parking
Drivers entering the gated parking lots at the Oshawa and Whitby campuses after 5 p.m. during the week pay a $2 flat rate and should leave the lot before 5 a.m. the next day.
Drivers are required to pull a ticket at the entrance gate and must then re-insert the same ticket at the exit gate when leaving the lot.
Drivers entering lots before 5 p.m. and exiting after this time will be required to pay the posted hourly rates.
Weekend Parking
Drivers may park in the gated parking lots at the Oshawa and Whitby campuses after 5 p.m. on Fridays until 5 a.m. Mondays by paying a $2 flat rate for 24 hours.
Drivers are required to pull a ticket at the entrance gate and must then re-insert the same ticket at the exit gate when leaving the lot.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
At exit gates by credit card only:
- If paying at the exit, the Day Pass option is not available.
- Insert the original ticket into the exit column.
- The column will indicate the required payment.
- Patrons are able to pay at exit using their credit card by inserting it in the same slot in which they placed their ticket. The card should be inserted with the magnetic stripe down and to the right.
- Once payment is verified, the gate will open and a receipt will be issued by the same exit column and from the same slot.
At pay stations:
Patrons paying with cash must attend a Pay Station in order to process their payment. Pay Stations accept cash, coins and credit cards and are located in Founders 2/3, Commencement and Champions lots at the Oshawa campus and at the Whitby campus.
Permit purchasing system
Parking permits are available for purchase online. All faculty, staff and students who park, or expect to park, in the permit parking lots, must complete a parking permit application and pay the applicable parking fee. Permits are non-transferable.

Annual – covers the time period September 1 – August 31.
Semester – covers the time period:
- September 1 – December 31
- January 1 – April 30
- May 1 – August 31
Monthly rates cover 30 days from the purchase date and are available for purchase at pay stations.
- Durham College reserves the right to limit permit sales.
- Permits are non-transferable and must be registered to the purchaser.
- Re-sale is prohibited.
- Vehicles should park only in prescribed parking lots at each campus or location.
- Rates include all applicable taxes.
- Daily passes are available for purchase at parking stations.

Pickering Learning Site
Free parking will be available in lots W6, W7, W8, W9, S9 or S10 as shown on the map. Note that the lots closest to the building are permit only, unauthorized vehicles will be ticketed.

General information:
- Paid parking is in effect.
- Gates are down at all times. Please see the evening parking information and weekend parking information sections for hours and rates.
- Short-term parking is available in the Pay ‘N’ Display parking area near the main entrance of the Gordon Willey building and in visitor areas at the Oshawa campus.
- Guest permits may be purchased in advance through the Parking Services office.
- Support is available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week by pressing the help button located at each parking gate and each pay-on-foot machine.
- Durham College assumes full jurisdiction over all traffic and parking.
- Regulations are enforced by Parking Services.
- Registered owners are responsible for all vehicle violations.
- Durham College reserves the right to ticket, move, tow or impound a vehicle on campus property if it is in violation of parking regulations.
- Durham College has no legal obligation to provide parking accommodation and assumes no responsibility for any damage to a motor vehicle or any loss of the vehicle or its contents while it is driven or parked on campus.
- Pay ‘N’ Display permits are non-refundable and should be clearly displayed inside your car.
- Day passes are available for purchase at pay stations.
- Prior arrangements must be made for overnight parking.
- All vehicles must park in designated parking spaces, which can be identified by the yellow lines painted on the pavement, parking curbstones or yellow posts.
- The end of each row is marked by double yellow lines or by a concrete curbstone.
- Vehicles parked outside a designated space are in violation of regulations, even if a valid parking permit is visibly displayed
- Enforcement of regulations is consistent with the Parking and Traffic Information brochure, municipal bylaws and provincial and federal laws.
- All parking lots are monitored.
- Parking privileges may be withdrawn for the continued abuse of regulations.
Motorcycles:
- The permit fee structure applies to all vehicles including motorcycles.
- Motorcycles must be registered with the college through the Parking office.
- When entering campus, you must show your permit to the parking attendant.
Bicycles:
- Bicycles should only be parked in provided racks.
- Bicycles found inside buildings or chained to trees, posts etc. will be relocated to the closest rack.
