Event Workshop I

This workshop course is structured around organizing and executing an event that is open to the public, while applying theory learned in Event Planning & Management. Students will choose an area of responsibility and will work in groups to achieve team and event goals. Through the planning stage, the class and individual teams establish objectives and strategies, develop task lists and deadlines, collaborate with each other and key community members including businesses and artists/performers. Some of the plans and strategies implemented include marketing, sponsorship, production, hospitality, artist relations, and follow up. Executing the event culminates the process, with students seeing the exciting results of their efforts. Assessments focus on project plans and reports, task execution, teamwork, and personal analysis/reflection.
