Social Policy & Administration

Social Policy and Administration provides an overview of the Canadian social welfare system and the effects of major policy shifts on service delivery. The course begins by highlighting relevant historical factors and exploring significant aspects of the social welfare system that are unique to Canada. The course then explores the impact of relevant legislation and social policies on social service delivery. Students will examine social issues such as poverty, homelessness and disability within a larger social, political and economic context. The course progresses to identifying advocacy and change strategies that promote social justice, inclusion and equality.
