Feature Writing & Publishing II

This course is part of the Chronicle's fully functioning media outlet, known as the ‘Working Newsroom'. The focus of the newsroom is production on all Chronicle platforms, including print, online, social media and Riot Radio. Students will spend part of their time in a classroom setting and part of the time in the ‘Working Newsroom'. As part of the ‘Working Newsroom' this class focuses on learning and practising new content and techniques, with the goal of creating future-ready job skills. Immersive learning in this class will expose student journalists to the broadest set of technologies and skills on a repetitive basis to move seamlessly into industry. This course hones skills in researching, organizing, writing, and editing feature stories for newspapers, magazines, and their digital platforms. Students refine techniques for generating story ideas, conducting thorough research, and crafting compelling general features, profiles, reviews, columns, and editorials. They also provide leadership within editorial and production teams to create visually captivating content and develop engaging interactive multimedia features.
