This course introduces the student to the theory behind various ground heat exchanger systems and their applications. Building on the concepts learned in Geothermal Systems 1, the students will discuss the materials, components and fluids of different geothermal heat exchanger installations. Using the skills learned in Geothermal Systems 1, the students will examine the overall benefits that ground source heat pumps provide the consumer in energy savings. The student will be exposed to the geological criteria considered as it pertains to the ground heat exchanger design and installation.
