Non-Destructive Testing- UT Ultrasonic I

The course introduces students to the fundamental concepts of one of the most important NDT (Non Destructive Testing) methods: Ultrasonic Testing (UT). The course starts with the physical principles of ultrasound and wave propagation, then introduces methodology of contact and immersion testing, and finally demonstrates main functional characteristics of flaw detectors and transducers. Students have the opportunity to verify instrument performance and calibrate it for normal beam inspection in the laboratory setting. In order to receive credit in this course students must achieve a minimum grade of 70%. Course content will meet or exceed the requirements of CAN/CGSB-48.9712-2014 standard for Qualification and Certification of Non-Destructive Testing Personnel for the UT Level 1.
