Introduction to HRIS

With the emergence of the Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERPS) that integrates various business modules within the company's information database, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) has become a crucial focus for Human Resource professionals. The aim of this course is to provide students with the foundational skills required for success in this information age. The course introduces students to the use of HRIS in the administration and management of human resources. Students explore why and how the system is implemented, how it integrates with other business processes and what is its impact on organizational decision-making and Human Resources profession. Students develop knowledge, competencies, and aptitudes required to identify, assess and maintain an effective system for the management and coordination of information and human resource business processes. Students' learning is supported by the world's largest provider of integrated business solutions software, SAP R/3 ERP. Its Human Capital Management (HCM) module is used to demonstrate aspects of integrated business applications, fundamental business processes in the context of human resources management and experience the software first hand. Through lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises and case studies, students acquire end-user level proficiency in collecting, manipulating, analyzing and distributing employee related information according to business requirements.
