Field Placement for Broadcast

Placement begins shortly before the end of the fourth semester and carries on in to May, consisting of seven weeks in total. This time is spent in the working environment of a TV/radio station or professional communications department. During that time the student is expected to keep normal working hours for that establishment and to conform to professional standards of dress and deportment. The student is also expected to take on assignments as designated by the supervisor or supervisor's appointees. Assignments may include reporting, photography, human interest features, political speakers, on the street interviews, research, fact checking, telephone interviews, headline writing, layout, press release writing, providing and editing online content, audio or video production, on-air work, or perhaps simply filing.
