Exam stress relief events

It’s easier to achieve success when you feel good, feel prepared, and are less stressed. With that in mind, be sure to check out the many events taking place this month to help you prepare for exams and take care of yourself!

Exam Prep at SALS

Student Academic Learning Services (SALS) is offering quiet study space, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Students may book study rooms in SSB 204. There is a silent study room in SSB 204T.

Learning Supports

Learning Skills Advisors will be available for appointments or drop-ins between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm to support students in their study and exam preparation strategies, as well as to provide subject-specific support in Accounting, Biology/A&P, Chemistry, Math and Physics.

Writing Supports

Writing and ESL Specialists will be available for appointments and drop-in support between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm for writing and assignments.

Test and Exam Preparation Workshop

  • Wednesday, March 29 – 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Monday, April 3 – 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Study Strategies Workshops

  • Thursday, March 30 – 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 4 – 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

To attend any SALS workshop, please pre-register in person in SALS (SSB 204). Be advised that space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Whitby Campus

SALS is offering quiet study space, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Learning Supports

Paws Your Studying

Nothing relieves stress more than a visit from a furry friend. Make sure to drop in to the following sessions to spend some time with the therapy dogs from Therapeutic Paws of Canada.

Stop by the Aboriginal Student Centre (Simcoe building, room 1264) Monday, March 27 to Friday, April 7, to participate in multiple stress-reducing activities!

  • Create your own Medicine Bundle – Carrying your bundle with you can help to reduce your stress, especially during exam time!
  • Enjoy healthy snacks and Cedar tea – Cedar tea is jam packed with goodness and will be served hot all day long.
  • Take a breather from your studies and join in on some board game fun! We have cards, Rummoli, Jenga, Backgammon, and Yatzee; there’s something for everyone!
  • Participate in a Smudging ceremony – Smudging is a purification ceremony that is used to create a positive energy and clear the mind. This ceremony will help you to focus while you study for your exams.
  • Participate in a sharing circle to discuss student stress and various coping methods. Our sharing circle will be offered Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
  • Elder Shirley Williams will be available to meet with students on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
