On Saturday, April 8, Durham College (DC) is hosting its third annual Epic Mac N’ Cheese competition at the W. Galen Weston Centre for Food. The competition will saw the college challenge Grade 11 and 12 high school students to put their culinary skills to the test while offering the greater community an opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Past recipes have included ingredients such as Muenster, blue and gouda cheeses, mereguez sausage, seafood, caramelized pears, a variety of fresh herbs and spices, and so much more! We can’t wait to see what this year’s contestants come up with.
In addition to the mac n’cheese competition, this year’s event will also feature Pop-up Bake Shops that offer an assortment of sweet and savoury treats created by students in DC’s Advanced Baking and Pastry Arts graduate certificate program.
Community members are invited drop by and stock up on a variety of breads, preserves and confections. The Pop-up Bake Shops will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or until supplies run out)!
Canada’s favourite comfort food and a variety of student-inspired sweet and savoury treats all in one day? Sounds like an epic good time!
