The Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) program is the perfect stepping stone if you:
- Are an adult learner out of school.
- Need to get ready for college.
- Are missing some entrance requirements.
- Need a credential to improve job opportunities.
You can earn credit(s) for:
- Apprenticeship, Business, Core and Technology Mathematics.
No-fee ACE courses are available at the January semester and April and September monthly intake starts only. The text books are free. There are waitlists for Chemistry, Communications, Biology, and Core Math. Contact Arlene Cronin to get on the no-fee start waitlists.
Effective January, 2013 students registered to take an ACE Distance course through the tuition-free option managed by the College Sector Committee who have not logged on within 13 days of the start of the course will be removed from the course. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the CSC at email@example.com. If you are removed from a course you will not be able to register for any further ACE Distance courses as a tuition-free student. Register for the other no-fee ACE courses at www.durhamcollege.ca/online.
Fee-payer ACE courses are available for the remaining intake starts. The books must be paid for. Register at www.durhamcollege.ca/online.

Arlene Cronin at email@example.com is the enrolment contact for the waitlists and approves students’ entry into ACE courses.
Learn to Learn Prerequisite
For no-fee ACE courses, this free 20 hour online course is a prerequisite. There are no exceptions.
Enrollments for L2L must go through the website http://www.acedistancedelivery.ca and click tab called L2L Registration. Two attempts to pass L2L are allowed only.
Fee-paying students are welcome to take L2L which may prepare them for online learning.
Instructor Mary Jonik will help develop an individualized training plan (ITP) based on your goal. Mary is also available to provide advice, follow-up and encouragement in partnership with your online teachers once you have registered in the ACE course(s) of your choice.
The prerequisite for ACE Chemistry and all other ACE math courses is ACE Core Math. A student is exempt from taking ACE Core Math only if he/she has the equivalent math or more (school board or Academic Upgrading) math within the past 10 years with a 70% mark or better. Students must fax their high school or college transcript to Lynne Wallace at 705-675-8295 or scan it and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org for approval.
For no-fee ACE courses textbooks are sent out by Marla White and are free to the student. Fee-paying students are required to pay for their book. Courses requiring textbooks are Business Mathematics, Apprenticeship Mathematics, Technology Mathematics, and Physics.
No textbooks are required for Communications, Computer Fundamentals and Self Management/Self Direction, Core Math, Chemistry, and Biology.
The textbooks are the property of the student.
Please Note: if the student is retaking a course they should already have the textbook. If the student is out-of-province, the student orders the text from Marla White and pays for that required textbook.
Restrictions to Registering:
- If a student fails to complete their no-fee ACE online course and did not officially withdraw or has a failing final grade, they must pay for the next ACE online course they take – it could be the same course or a different course.
- If a student wants to retake an ACE online course to improve their mark, they will pay for that course and textbook if applicable.
- Any out-of-province students will pay for their ACE course(s) and will order and pay for their textbook(s) with Marla White.
- International students will pay the appropriate international student rate for their course and their textbook.
