Epic Mac n’ Cheese Competition and Pop-up Bake Shops
Canada’s favourite comfort food and a variety of student-inspired treats all in one day! Join us for an epic good time at the W. Galen Weston Centre for Food (1610 Champlain Dr., Whitby) on Saturday, April 8.
Pop-up Bake Shops
Students in Durham College’s (DC) Advanced Baking and Pastry Arts program are holding their second annual Pop-up Bake Shops event to bring their semester-long capstone projects to life. Community members are invited drop by and stock up on a variety of breads, preserves and confections.
In addition to producing the goods that will be on sale, students are also responsible for the marketing, budgeting, packaging and decision-making for all elements of their shops.
Come out to satisfy your sweet tooth and celebrate our next generation of baking entrepreneurs! The Pop-up Bake Shops will run from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or until supplies run out)!
Epic Mac N’ Cheese competition
DC is hosting its third annual Epic Mac N’ Cheese competition at the W. Galen Weston Centre for Food. We challenge Grade 11 and 12 students to put their culinary skills to the test, and invite the greater community to attend and enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Participating students will have the chance to compete for a bursary* towards a culinary, hospitality or special events planning program at DC.
Past recipes have included ingredients such as Muenster, blue and gouda cheeses, mereguez sausage, seafood, caramelized pears, a variety of fresh herbs and spices, and so much more! We can’t wait to see what this year’s contestants come up with.
