	<description>Ontario's colleges, including Durham College, are praising the important commitments made by the McGuinty government on Monday to produce more college and university graduates. Among other highlights of the throne speech delivered by Ontario's Lieutenant Governor, The Honourable David Onley, is a commitment to increase the number of spaces in colleges and universities by 20,000 this year. The government is also committed to increasing the attainment rate of post-secondary credentials to the required 70 per cent from the current level of 62 per cent.</description>

	<description>Stan Marchut, former head coach of the Durham Lords women's volleyball team, will be inducted into the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame this spring. Marchut, who spent 24 seasons leading the women's volleyball program to one of the most successful records in Canadian college history, retired last year after 357 career victories and the highest win total ever in Canadian Colleges Athletic Association women's volleyball history. He also has six national championship appearances, a national bronze medal, four provincial championship titles, 10 provincial medals and 13 regional titles, and has won coach of the year seven times among his many other accomplishments.</description>
