Record-breaking Chairman's Charity Classic to be held at Deer Creek

June 1, 2006

One of GTA's largest fundraising golf tournaments expected to top $360,000 this year

OSHAWA, Ont. - The golf carts are already revving up for this year's Durham Regional Chairman's Charity Classic golf tournament held at Deer Creek Golf Club and Banquet Facility.

Now in its 10th year, Durham Region's most successful golf tournament and one of the most successful fundraising golf tournaments in the GTA has raised nearly $2 million to help students at Durham College and UOIT achieve their post-secondary educational goals. Funds raised this year will also support Junior Achievement and the Abilities Centre Durham. Last year the tournament raised $360,000, and this year organizers hope to exceed that amount.

At this year's sold out event participants can expect Three Fraser Fold hole-in-one holes; a $1-million shoot out; a putting contest; and more. Auction items include a hockey box at the Bell Centre in Montreal, UOIT and Durham College tuition, a full home theatre package, and much more.
