Whitby campus evening courses - Gas technician

Durham College offers a variety of evening courses to help you work towards your career goals. The following evening courses are available at our Whitby campus.

Gas Technician 3

If you want to work in the propane and/or natural gas industry, this course will help you attain the knowledge you need to obtain your licence.

Topics include:

Safety;
Handling of tools:
Gas fundamentals;
Codes and regulations;
Customer relations; and
An introduction to piping and tubing systems and gas appliances.

Successful completion will allow you to work under the supervision of a licensed Gas Technician 1 or 2.

Scheduled courses:

September 7, 2010 to February 22, 2011
Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

OR

September 8, 2010 to December 4, 2010
(Note: First class starts on a Wednesday)
Monday and Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Cost: $1,485.00 + text(s) and tools

We recommend that you are 19 years or older and have your Ontario Secondary School Diploma to register for this course.

Gas Technician 2

In this course you will gain the knowledge to work without supervision on appliances rated up to 400,000 BTUs.

Scheduled course:

September 7, 2010 to April 28, 2011
Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Cost: $3,375.00 + text(s) and tools

You must provide proof of current valid Gas Technician 3 licence at time of registration.

We use WebCT, an online learning management system, to present course material via the Internet so no matter where you are, as you can access your course material. We presently have students in northern Ontario who are accessing the theory portion of their course material with just a click of a mouse.
