It may be hard to believe it, but the semester and the first year of college are coming to a close. Although your student went through final papers, assignments and exams last semester - the end of a term always results in stress and fatigue since the academic stakes are high.
Encourage your student to concentrate on doing his or her best and avoid focusing on what has already occurred and can't be changed. During the last few weeks, professors may provide hints about what to expect on the final exam so class attendance is crucial.
Students are:
- Finding it difficult to focus with the nicer weather arriving;
- Feeling the demands of multiple activities while preparing for exams;
- Anxious about doing well; and
- Looking forward to the academic break and starting a summer job.
You can offer support by:
- Sending a care package of nutritious snacks that require little preparation;
- Reminding your student about the academic support services available on campus;
- Providing your student with a quiet and comfortable place to study if he or she is living at home; and
- Sending an encouraging message.
