First generation students are those who are the first in their families to attend a post-secondary institution (college, university or apprenticeship training).

Durham College and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities recognize that first generation students may have unique needs and experiences. The first generation student co-ordinator is here to encourage and support your student while they work towards achieving their dream of becoming a college graduate - the first in your family!
