At Durham College, the student experience comes first. That is our mission and commitment to students.
We understand that college is about more than just attending classes and studying. That is why students have countless opportunities to pursue challenging, rewarding and fun activities and interests outside of the classroom. We want you to look back on your college years as one of the highlights of your life!
Students can:
- Join one of almost 70 student clubs. They range from cultural (Chinese, Hong Kong, Hindu and Afghan student associations, etc.), to social activism (Rotaract, Students Against Social Injustice and Students For Humanitarianism and Action Through Respect and Education) and special interest (accounting, advertising and snowboarding);
- Start their own club with students who share their passion and interests;
- Take part in events designed only for international students including Toronto Raptors basketball games or day trips to Niagara Falls, Toronto and other popular locations;
- Get involved with Your Student Association and contribute their time to making campus life even better for all students;
- Become a student ambassador, sharing all the college has to offer to potential students and other guests;
- Take part in varsity athletics. The national award-winning Durham Lords program offers men's and women's teams in a number of sports including basketball, soccer (football), baseball and volleyball;
- Enjoy cultural events and activities; and
- Worship areas for individuals of all faiths.
