If your goal is to study, graduate and work in Canada, you are in good company. Many international students arrive here intending to find employment.
Durham College international students are eligible to apply for an off-campus work permit after successfully completing six months of a post-secondary program* with a minimum 2.0 grade point average or C grade. Students can work up to a maximum of 20 hours per week while in school and up to 40 hours per week during vacations.
Students who graduate from a one-year certificate program* can apply for a post-graduate work permit that is valid for one year. Graduates of two- or three-year diplomas or advanced diplomas can apply for a post-graduate three-year work permit.
Work permits are governed and administered through the Canadian government and are not connected to Durham College programs. To learn more, please visit the Canadian Citizenship and Immigration website.
*English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English as a second language (ESL) students are not eligible.
