Your student identification card allows you access to a number of on-campus services, resources and facilities.
Campus Library
The barcode and validation date on your card verifies your status for borrowing privileges. Returning students' cards must be validated before the end of September each year.
Media services
Your campus ID card allows for borrowing privileges for equipment and media.
Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre
As a registered student, your campus ID card is your access card to use the facilities and is also required to reserve facilities or rent equipment.
Exams and tests
Be prepared to bring your campus identification card to gain access to your exams and tests.
Student Academic Learning Services - SW201
You must present your current ID card at the front reception desk for scanned access to the resource centre.
Student Health Benefit plan
Your card verifies your status as a current health benefit plan subscriber and is required for prescription and service coverage.
U-Pass - refreshed July 2010
As a full-time post-secondary student, your campus ID card is your identification card for the U-Pass providing you with unlimited use of any Durham Region Transit or GO Transit bus operating in Durham Region and reduced GO Transit fare outside of Durham Region. The 2010/2011 fall/winter U-Pass is valid from Sept 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011. Full-time registered winter 2011 semester intake students whose term extends into August 2011, will be entitled to the 2011Summer U-Pass program between June 1, 2011 to August 31st, 2011. Visit the ID office before June 1, 2011with your valid ID card to receive your Summer U-Pass sticker. Reprint fees will apply.
Monthly transit passes
Non full-time students are eligible to purchase student rate monthly transit passes with their part-time or non post-secondary campus ID cards.
Your Student Association initiatives
Your campus ID card will allow access to a variety of services and events supported by Your Student Association, including the used bookstore, event tickets and pub access.
Meal plans
Your meal plan account is activated and accessed by your campus ID card. If you have any questions, please visit the main ARAMARK office in the Marketplace Food Court or one of the other offices located in the:
- South Village Residence Dining Hall;
- UB Café; and
- Whitby Food Court.
Flex dollars
Flex dollar accounts are initially purchased as part of all meal plans but additional dollars can be added to your account at any ARAMARK cash register upon presentation of your campus ID card. They can be used at the following locations:
- Country Style Deli Bistro;
- Library Cafe;
- Marketplace Food Court;
- Quizno's;
- Simcoe Cafe;
- South Village Residence Dining Hall;
- Student Centre Food Court;
- Tim Hortons;
- UB Café; and
- Whitby Cafe.
Retail discounts
Retail discounts are available on- and off-campus for students registered at a post-secondary institution. Examples of these opportunities include:
- Restaurants;
- Retail establishments; and
- Theatres.
Debit card services
The Smart Chip on all campus identification cards acts as a debit system that allows for cashless photocopying at numerous locations on campus.
You can deposit money onto your card at the Cash Manager machine stations on-campus:
- Campus Library - main floor
All machines accept up to a maximum of $20, but it is recommended to keep a balance of $5 or less as the balance is non-refundable for lost cards. It is not necessary to purchase a copy card from the Cash Manager machine if you have a current campus ID card.
Cash Manager machines will only accept the following currency:
- Loonies;
- Twoonies; and
- $5, $10 and $20 bills.
Copiers with Smart Chip meters are located in the following locations:
- Campus Library;
- Room L1B 136E;
- Room L1B 218; and
- Room L1B 322.
